The cakes here are so delicious. I've tried many flavors and they are all so good. We ordered a 10 inch mango mousse cake and it was beautiful and tasty. The hot dog bun is delicious--a little pricey, but the quality if the bread and even the hot dog was noticeably high. Service is great; the staff is kind and efficient even when busy.

We ordered a custom Totoro log cake for my daughter's 6th birthday and SimplyCake knocked it out of the park. From the first inquiry, their communication was excellent; they responded quickly, worked within our budget, and came up with a creative design using strawberry mushrooms and grass piping to bring the Totoro theme to life. The cake was strawberry sponge, absolutely delicious, and looked beautiful. It was a hit with all the kids at the party. The value was also outstanding for a custom cake. Will definitely be back for our next celebration!

Good bakery for asian style pastries-light and not overbearingly sweet. Had the fresh Japanese milk cake and liked the texture/taste. They dont have a lot of tables so its mostly takeout.

Walked by since we’re waiting to get into a restaurant nearby. Got curious and the baked goods look delish so decided to checkout. Man. I ended up getting more than I would like but it all worth it. Good portion of choices of pastries, breads, cakes, and others. Well make & presented plus well displaced. One side is the self pick of the pastries, and the other side is the sitting area. In the back is the cashier & cake order& displace area. Parking was okey and it’s street parking in front with pay and there is one big parking structure and parking lot behind the store (3-5mins walk). Got the egg tarts cause it looks great and taste great too, taro snowy cake (quite good, better then I expected), and couple of to-taro buns. The cakes are well make and eye catching decor, especially the Labubu cake, too cute. The vibe is here chill and enjoys the baked goods. Glad that we stopped by and got some goods.

We tried hokkaido sponge cake, crème brûlée, chestnut slice cake, tiramisu and chocolate mousse cake on various occasions. They all were delicious. The staff was also friendly. It’s hard to find parking due to the busy downtown location. The place gets crowded very quickly. Their egg tarts and buns are also popular.

Very good collection with a wide variety of Japanese bakery items. The queue can get long, but it moves fast. We tried the silky cakes and they were delicious. Great place to visit if you enjoy fresh Japanese-style pastries and desserts.

I’m gonna be honest – this gives me 85C vibes which is fine because I love 85C but here are two takeaways that immediately stood out to me!
I came here after visiting Antoine’s cookies and I wanted an iced Americano, which luckily they do serve! It stood out to me was the gentleman who assisted me said he would bring it out to me when it was ready.
I used to own a smoothie and tea shop, and I feel like this is either something that he himself prompts and does on his own, but if this is in the protocol of training their barista’s, it’s such a subtle thing that makes such a big difference and I really appreciated it that
The selection of pastries is what reminds me of 85C but on the top of my head, I don’t remember if they also do high-end cakes and baked goods like the right half of Simply cake does. I saw a Baker rollout some really high-end cakes and it does seem like they do have two sections of their store to the left the coffee shop and quick pastries to go into the right a proper bakery with me to order items.
I grabbed a ham and egg pastry for myself to partner with my iced Americano and at 11:30 AM on a Friday. I was the only guest dining in and felt like if I wanted to I could do a lot of productive things here at their dine in seats.
One final notable thing is I always try to take a photo of The Venue‘s bathroom because in my mind if your bathroom is clean, your kitchen is clean which is not always gonna be the case but that’s how I look at the world and I’ve got to say this is probably top 3% of cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen lol so take that for what it’s worth to you.

Freshly baked, delicious and tasty pastries. Even the prices are very affordable. They also have many items in mini sizes so if you are watching your carbs and calories, you can control your portions. Service is slow and the cafe is very small for seating.

We dropped a hot dog bun and they were very kind. Appreciate it dude. You know who you are 😅 We always get the egg and ham, chasiu bao, red bean bread and yam bread. The egg tarts are pretty good too. They use to be a bit more affordable but it’s a win if you can buy 6 items for under $20 these days.
We’ve been coming here since they opened. Really appreciate having an HK style bakery out here in San Mateo :)

Simplycake is a small Asian bakery shop in San Mateo. It has so many variety, from savory to sweet breads, and many pretty cake slices (you can also purchase a full cake if you like). I'm not even hungry when I walked into the store, but I saw a line, my instinct told me this is a good place. Well, it's indeed very good. All bakery looks fresh and yummy, I (am still full) but couldn't resist and ended up buying a lot because it just looks so delicious I could not skip it. What I bought: pork sung cake, mango crepe, matcha swiss roll and a canele. My bill came out around $20 only for every thing, which is basically a steal!!!!!! And I could not wait to get home to try it, so I just dine in there. Honestly, a solid 9/10 (would love the canele to be "more burned"). Will I do it again? Absolutely! I will go back to try more (at least I spotted a souffle cake that I want to try there, but I save it for next time)
